The NB 576 China Mask Collection draws its inspiration from the spectacular art of face changing in Sichuanese Opera. During these spell-binding performances, actors change their brightly-colored masks in a fraction of a second, enabling them to achieve instantaneous changes of facial expression. This incredible artistry is reflected in the China Mask collection, which uses vivid designs of operatic masks and stylized representations of Bian, the Chinese character for ‘change’. Scheduled to appear exclusively in stores on August 23, 2008, the star of this new collection is Wu Shuang, which literally means “one of a kind”. Only 576 pairs of these remarkable shoes will be available worldwide. For total authenticity, every pair will bear its serial number (001-576) on the back panel of the shoe tongue. The shoe features premium leather and suede panels, one-of-a-kind embossed opera mask toe box, glow-in-the-dark detailing, lace locks and satin-like inner lining.
